The Los Angeles Unified School District selected KCMS as part of a development team in May 2002 to manage the planning, design and construction of a multi-school campus on the site of the historic Ambassador Hotel.

Given the historic significance of the Ambassador site and importance of the events that have occurred there, including the assassination of Robert Kennedy in 1968; this project had a high profile and attracted public attention that required KCMS to accommodate a high degree of public discourse as part of the development process.  Options evaluated included maximum re-use and partial re-use of the existing hotel structure, as well as new construction.
